What a Website and SEO Package Should Include in the UK (2026 Checklist)

Adyft Sites Guide

Website Costs

A good UK website and SEO package should include the written pages, keyword research, on-page SEO for every page, a fast mobile site, Google Search Console with a sitemap submitted, structured data, tracking, hosting and security, regular new articles, and a monthly report you can read. Bought separately, those parts commonly add up to well over £2,000 in the first year before any monthly SEO retainer; bundled, they can cost a few hundred pounds to set up plus a monthly fee. Use the checklist below to see what a quote really includes.

Why are website and SEO packages so hard to compare?

Because “SEO included” has no fixed meaning. For one provider it means typing a title into each page. For another it means research, written content, technical setup and a report every month. Both can honestly put “SEO” on the quote.

The fix is to stop comparing package names and compare the line items. If a quote does not name an item, assume it is not included, and ask. The checklist below is the list we would want if we were buying.

What should the website part of the package include?

  • 1Written pages. Who writes the words? Copywriting is usually not included in UK website quotes and costs about £50–150 per page extra, according to published UK price guides (2026).
  • 2A page per service and, for local businesses, pages for the towns or areas you serve. One general services page rarely ranks for specific searches.
  • 3A mobile-first design that loads quickly. Ask what speed score the site achieves on a phone.
  • 4A clear way to get in touch from every page: phone, WhatsApp and an enquiry form.
  • 5Privacy and terms pages, and a cookie banner if the site uses tracking cookies.
  • 6Hosting, SSL, backups and security updates, with a named response time when something breaks.
  • 7The domain registered in your name, and a written promise that you get your files if you leave.

What should the SEO part of the package include?

  • 1Keyword research based on real search data for your area, not guesses.
  • 2A page title, description and headings written for each page around those searches.
  • 3Google Search Console set up and your sitemap submitted, so you can see how Google finds the site.
  • 4Structured data (schema) that describes your business, services and location in a format search engines read.
  • 5An llms.txt file and clean, readable pages, so AI assistants can understand and cite the site.
  • 6Tracking for enquiries: Google Analytics plus clicks on call and WhatsApp buttons.
  • 7New articles written around what customers search, published regularly.
  • 8A monthly report that shows Google clicks, the searches you appear for, and visitors.

Some UK SEO packages also include link building, local directory listings, managing your Google Business Profile and review requests. These can help, but they are separate services. Ask whether they are included, how many, and exactly what is done each month.

What does each part cost when bought separately in the UK?

These are typical ranges from published UK price guides and SEO price lists (2026). Your quotes may differ, but the table shows why bundles exist.

ItemTypical UK price bought separatelyNotes
5-page site from a freelancer£1,500–3,000Agencies about £3,000–5,000
Copywriting£50–150 per pageUsually not in the website quote
Basic SEO setup£300–1,000Research, page SEO, technical basics
Hosting£50–300 a yearSometimes bundled with care
Maintenance and updates£300–1,200 a yearVaries by response time and changes
Monthly SEO retainerAbout £900–1,500 a monthTypically 2 articles, a few links and a report

Add the first five lines for a five-page site and the lower ends alone come to about £2,400 in year one. That is before any monthly SEO, which many small businesses cannot justify at £900 or more a month.

💡 The test of a website and SEO package is simple: list every item above, write the price or “not included” next to it, and compare the totals over a year, not the setup price.

In plain totals with blogs on: Growth is £699 setup + 11 × £39 = £1,128 in the first year, and £699 + 36 × £39 = £2,103 over three years. Starter is £299 + 11 × £19 = £508 in year one. The domain, about £10–15 a year, is paid separately and registered in your name.

On every plan, hosting, SSL, daily backups, security updates and 24/7 monitoring are included, and if the site goes down or breaks we start fixing it within 2 hours, any day, free. You own the domain and the content, with no lock-in and no exit fee; if you leave, you get the ready-to-run files, the source project and your blog posts, plus 30 days of help moving.

What does Adyft Sites not include?

Being clear about this matters more than any feature list. We do not do link building, local directory listings or citations, review outreach, or Google Business Profile management. We write in English; a second language is a “talk to us” quote. And we do not promise Google rankings, because nobody honestly can.

If you want those extra services, budget for them separately or do the simple ones yourself. A complete Google Business Profile and a steady habit of asking happy customers for reviews cost nothing but time, and both matter for local searches.

Which questions expose a thin website and SEO package?

  • 1Who writes the page content, and is it included in the price?
  • 2How many individual service pages and area pages do I get?
  • 3Will you set up Google Search Console and submit the sitemap, and will I have access?
  • 4How many new articles a month, roughly how long, and who chooses the topics?
  • 5What exactly is in the monthly report, and can I see a sample?
  • 6What speed score does the site get on a phone?
  • 7Whose name is the domain registered in?
  • 8If I leave, what do I get, and is there a fee?
  • 9What happens, and how quickly, if the site goes down on a Sunday?

A provider who answers each of these in writing, with numbers, is usually a safe choice. Vague answers to the first three are the most common warning sign.

Is a monthly SEO retainer worth it for a small UK business?

Sometimes. A retainer makes sense when you are in a competitive market, your site is already solid, and each new customer is worth a lot. In that case the extra articles, links and analysis can pay for themselves.

For many local businesses in their first year or two, the bigger gains come from the basics done properly: the right pages, fast loading, clear contact options, regular useful articles and a complete Google Business Profile. A package that covers those for a modest monthly fee leaves budget for ads or a retainer later, once you know what works.

Questions about website and SEO packages

What should a website and SEO package include?

Written pages, keyword research, page SEO, a fast mobile site, Search Console and a sitemap, structured data, tracking, hosting and security, regular articles and a monthly report. Links, directory listings and Google Business Profile management are separate services; check whether they are included.

How much does a website and SEO package cost in the UK?

Bought separately, a five-page site plus copy, SEO setup, hosting and maintenance commonly passes £2,400 in year one. Adyft Sites Growth is £699 setup plus £39 a month with 4 new articles a month, or £1,128 in year one.

Is SEO included in Adyft Sites?

Yes, on every plan: keyword research, SEO on every page, Search Console with the sitemap submitted, schema, llms.txt, a 90+ mobile speed score and tracking. Articles come each month with blogs on. We do not build links or manage Google Business Profiles.

Can any package guarantee first place on Google?

No. Anyone promising a guaranteed ranking is overselling. A good package gives Google fast, clear, useful pages and keeps adding them, and reports honestly on the results.

How quickly will I see SEO results?

It varies by market and competition. New sites often take months to build steady search traffic. The monthly report on Growth and Pro shows Google clicks and top searches so you can watch progress.

Can I stop the blog articles to save money?

Yes. Switch blogs off any month by messaging us; Growth then drops from £39 to £19 a month. Articles already published stay on your site.
